The two most important factors for planting and nursing decorative trees are the quality of the soil and the type of climate. The soil and the climate must be close and similar in both: region of planting and nursery and region of supply. The quality of the soil enriched with high volume of clay at the land under concession in Macedonia and the climate type, offer great prospects for planting and nursery of decorative trees. In addition, the soil and the climate at the planting region are very similar to the regions where decorative trees are exported (Balkan countries, Ukraine, Russia and Turkey). The proximity to clients is likewise crucial for transportation and delivery purposes and for providing quality supply of decorative trees as well.

The surroundings of the location, the climate and the soil, allows us to grow our decorative trees with extremely compact root ball and very strong and resistible plant. The temperatures in the nursery in summer time can reach up to +40°C and in winter -20°C which makes our trees sustainable in various climate types... europeanplants.com/regional.html

Tulips do not usually perennialize(come back year after year) in areas with hot summers. Even so, they deserve a place with the daffodils and hyacinths in your spring garden. You may even extend their blooming lives for more than a single season by planting them 12 inches deep. The additional soil cover will keep them cool. Choose your tulips according to their blooming time. Planting a variety of early, mid-season and late bloomers will maximize your tulip season. Starting with the single early tulips and ending with the late peony-flowered or parrot varieties creates a constantly changing tulip bed.

http://plantsrescue.com/category/chrysalidocarpus-lutescens/

BIRD IS THE WORD
Does the variety of species of birds in your backyard affect your house’s value? According to a report by researchers at Texas Tech University, it does, particularly if you have less common birds perching on your fence. The difference between the value of a house with one less common bird species (the researchers mentioned blue jays and kingbirds for the area of Lubbock, Texas, they were studying) and a house with two was $32,028. At least one attraction for birds is a varied ecosystem with different kinds of trees and shrubs. http://landscapearchitecturemagazine.org/2012/03/08/bird-is-the-word/

Landscaping for Birds
...
Your backyard oasis will benefit greatly by using native plants for your particular area. This not only means less maintenance, water, and fertilizer but the local birds will recognize friendly territory where they can build their nests and they find a good source of food. The local trees, shrubs, flowers, and grasses are more inviting to wild birds than exotic plants because the local birds don't know what to make of them. You can still have your exotic plants but only plant in a portion of the backyard. You can do a little research on the different species of bird and what food they prefer; this may change with the seasons or the older the birds get. Once you have found the birds you want to attract and the food they prefer you can select the plants they need such as those bearing berries, fruits, acorns, grains, nuts, seeds, or nectar. You will also need a source of water such as a pond, water garden, or even a bird bath that provides dripping, moving, or splashing water for a drink or a bath.

A landscape that has multiple layers of different plant life you can probably attract many diversified species of birds. Some birds find food in low growing shrubs or find it roaming around on the ground. When it comes to roosting, shelter, and nesting you will find some species prefer tall trees, others like bushes and shrubs; you may even find some birds feed at one level of the shrub and nest in another level. Try planting multiple layers of vegetation to entice birds; place the taller plants towards the back of the garden, the medium height plants in the center and the low growing towards the front. This method can also be done around a tall tree by using medium height shrubs encircling the tree and lower height flowers as the outside border. This gives the different species resting places without being crowded.
...
You always want to keep your backyard landscape neat and trimmed, but you can also leave a small pile of leaves or trimmings from the shrubs which will attract the birds because it will provide them material for shelter and nesting and give them a variety of insects to eat. You can also attract birds by letting your flowers and shrubs go to seed but don't remove the seeds. Landscaping for birds is fairly easy as long as you provide the birds with native vegetation.

Hanging Baskets

The Hanging Basket Garden in High Park was just one of my areas of care during my days as a gardener for the City of Toronto. The baskets were grown in the City Greenhouses first, then my colleagues and I would spend a day arranging them outside when there was no risk of frost.

About 100 or so baskets of mixed annual flowers were on display in this area. Periodically, I'd spend about 2 days going through them all, cleaning out dead growth, dead-heading flowers to stimulate more blooms or checking to see if the drip lines were working properly. Each basket was connected to several drip lines set up on a timer for a water feed.

Even though the automatic watering system existed, during the dry periods of our Toronto summers the baskets had to be watered manually. With hanging baskets and most potted annual displays, the roots are tightly packed into their pots and are actively competing for water. As it flows in the basket or pot, the water soaks the outer surface of the soil and works it's way down the sides of the container.

If the water is not fed for a long enough period, the very center of the root clump will tend to dry out resulting in the death of your flowers! Water as often as needed (every 2 to 3 days), but at least once a week during drought periods, give that container a great soaking by filling a bucket with water and submersing the container in the bucket. Letting it sit until no bubbles come out from the soil is the best way to ensure even water distribution throughout the root clump.

If you are watering with a wand connected to the hose (recommended for delicate annual plantings), water until you see it flowing out the drip holes of the container, stop for a minute or so, then repeat 1 or 2 more times. The Japanese have a rule of thumb for bonsai plants (annuals are no different), daily water 3 times, once for the pot, once for the soil and finally once for the roots (plus the occasional dunk in the bucket).

Follow those simple suggestions and your baskets/pots should last till the first frost in fall. Anticipate that frost!!!... trim all the growth back before it hits, store the plants indoors in a cool place keeping soil moist and you can have that same planting arrangement for next spring! (feed with a bit of slow-release fertilizer in spring)

http://landscape-design.blogspot.com/2006/12/hanging-baskets.html

...
Decide whether the container will become an important part of the total design or is merely there to support the plants. A large, bold container filled with small delicate plants is usually inappropriate.

Healthy plants require adequate drainage. Selfcontained pots with no drainage holes can be made suitable by using a pot-in-pot arrangement or by adding a dry well or drainage layer (about 1/4 depth of container) to the container bottom. Three or four punctures made with a sharp knife through lined containers will also supply necessary drainage. Improper drainage is a frequent cause of poor plant growth in containers.

As plants grow and especially after watering, the weight of the basket increases. Therefore, it is very important that thought be given to the method of support used. Whether chains, ropes, wires or macrame, too much weight for the support may mean a total loss if the basket crashes to the ground
